Starbucks…big bucks.

A grande non-fat white mocha for $4.20 doesnt taste as good when you realize that 70 kids could be fed for that money. Six cents per kid for a bowl of soup and two pieces of bread. Kids who lick their bowls to get every last drop. And i just drank 70 kid’s meals in a matter of 20 minutes.

Reality check.

  1. Reality check. You do live in America. And God does not call you to live in poverty. I drank 2 sometimes 3 or 4 cups of starbucks a day when we were visiting the States. Was that balanced? No! But God also calls us to community and sacrifice. If He is calling you to give up your Starbucks then give it up. If you are going to regret it the whole time…then it is for the wrong reason. You have to make choices with your brain…not your emotions. You are getting all worked up which is totally great…but I am pretty sure that in the not to distant future it will start to fade a bit and you will have to seriously look at your life and see where you need to change your life and make adjustments. Megan was talking to me about Young Givers something something about how the premise behind it is asking God what we (all of us individually in your own life) need to live off of and then literally giving the rest away. For some it is $20,000 a year for others it may be $100,000. But the point being that we are not called to guilt or on the flip, complacency. You are being rocked…which is awesome. But you have to find a balance. I am praying for you Angie. If it is the Sushi..then give it up and pass that money along. If it is the Starbucks, then pass it along. But if it is just your own voice and not the voice of God…then eat, drink and be merry.
