THE job!

Ok, so quite a few people have asked “so…where are you working now?” I guess i wrote that I got a job, but didnt exactly say where. Oh my word….you’ll never believe it….I am now on the YOUTH STAFF at Westside Family Church!!! Seriously, i can’t believe it either!!

So what will I be doing?

Well, I’ll be job sharing with Gretchen who is currently our Youth Ministries Administrative Assistant. She will be going down in hours so that she can focus more on her family and kids, while I will take over half of her position in the afternoons. Basically I will be doing everything she does…which is EVERYTHING! Anything that the youth staff or youth ministry needs, she does! If you have a question about anything concerning the youth ministry, ask Gretchen….she knows the answer! (oh my word, how can i ever fill those shoes!?!)

A few things I’m hoping to bring to the position: I’d like to oversee the “hang out” events, coordinate them, contact and work with volunteers who will plan and run these events, make sure all of the little details are noticed and met, making sure the promotion side is met, working with facilities managers and vendors to make sure we have a place to meet and have food, prizes, and anything else to make the events fun, exciting, and run smoothly. 🙂 Another thing I’d like to see done is for us to utilize our youth website www.westsidesurge.com a lot more. Its awesome that we have our own website, but it hasnt been used or updated for SO LONG, and it could be promoted and used SO MUCH MORE! I’d love to see it more utilized, a lot more interactive, and a definite strong point of our ministry. I’d also like to see an after school program started somewhere down the road, which would give kids a chance to come hang out after school, get some snacks and coffee, and do their homework with their friends. That would be sweet. But besides all of this, i’ll be working on a lot of administration and office work that is vital and necessary for effective ministry to be done.

I can’t put into words how very excited I am about this job. I have never been so passionate about something in my life…and i’m so thankful for the chance to work with an AMAZING youth staff from whom I have learned so much, and from whom I know I will continue to learn from. I’m so excited to be at a job that directly impacts so many lives, a job that I can live out my passion for Christ, for youth, and for excellence. Who knows where this job may take me. It may be just for this season of my life, or it may become a full time thing somewhere down the road. All i know is that I’ve been put here for “such a time as this” and I will give it all I’ve got. 🙂 I do it all for the glory of God in my life, through this ministry, through this church, and for the global body of believers as a whole.
